Clean Water Utility
At a recent Village Board meeting, Doug Snow commented, as a supporter of the CWU, that the Village should double his CWU fee and he'd gladly pay it. I whole heartedly agree that his fee should be doubled. I think the Village should start a fund in his name of like minded Village CWU fee supporters. This fund would help those on fixed incomes who are charged significantly higher fees than nearly every other resident in the Village only because they happen to own a large, undeveloped parcel of land. Thanks Doug and we'll make sure the Village changes your fee soon!

Cwu billing should be done by the amount of impervious surfaces. Not the amount of land you own. It is a proven fact that you will have more runoff the more impervious surfaces you have on your land. Hence, more treatment needed. Those who have wetlands in good contition should , in my estimation, be given a 'break' on the CWU because nature is doing it for us.
You 'pave paradise' you pay. simple.
CWU billing IS done by the amount of impervious surface...plus other factors, such as type of grassland, etc. Wetlands are exempted, as well. It's all in the USDA manual that the Village follows. Call John Jr. and ask for a copy...he has one and can show you the formula.
I'm sick and tired of this misinformation about how the CWU is calculated. This is a federally-mandated law. If you don't like it, vote out the dopes in the US Congress that legislate this junk but don't fund it. The local politicians that have to implement the law get the blame...and that's just wrong.
