Shareholders of Wisconsin Energy Corp. will see a 25% higher payout with the dividend declared Thursday by the Milwaukee-based energy company.
On Wednesday, We Energies announced a refund that would amount to $3 a month for the average customer due to over-collection of fuel costs in 2008. Fuel prices rose dramatically in the first half of 2008 but then plummeted in the second half of the year.
So why not a bigger rebate to customers if they can increase their dividend?

My God, you are stupid. There, I had to say it straight-out.
Fuel refunds are determined by a formula that, yes, the state regulates.
The state also sets the rates for WE.
So you ask why they can't give bigger refunds if they can give bigger dividends.
Listen up:
Refund set by state, dividends set by company from state-approved profits. You don't like it? Vote in a new legislature.
And you vote?
Here endeth the lesson.
Now we know anonymous is a WE Energies employee, what other dumbass would even care?

You're even dumber. I posted the first comment, and I don't work for WE. I have a particular skill you apparently don't...I READ STUFF.
You two morons couldn't get a shoe size out of the sum of your IQ's.
But our IQ's would still be higher than any lawyer.
Well, ya, that goes without saying.
I have never claimed to be the brightest bulb in the pack or sharpest pencil in the box. I just put items out there for people to comment on. It would be nice if the comments were directed to the story for a change and not on the posters.
“There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why... I dream of things that never were, and ask WHY NOT?”
"So WHY NOT a bigger rebate to customers if they can increase their dividend?"
Merely pointing out that just because the question "why not?" is raised, does not necessarily imply stupidity. It may in fact imply creativity.
OK, Richie, here's your questions:
1. Why not spend all WE profits to give free Tootsie Rolls and Grape Nehi to all employees?
2. Why not spend profits on free Butterburgers for all Pleasant Prairie residents (I'll bet E.R. would like that!)?
3. Why not REQUIRE all profits to be spent on a train from Kenosha to Milwaukee?
Answers: Because these companies are owned by their shareholders, not by the government. If you want those things, buy up enough WE stock to force it. Otherwise, butt out.
You commies are unbelievable...you always want to tell others how to spend their money.

Nice comments
Typical hate the VB commentary.
John, you have to remember that the last two or three elections have been very close. There are a lot of residents who feel they've been mistreated by Village. Think of your own development. Think of 80th Street extension. Get used to it if you're going to be a Trustee.
Oh, I am very aware. Any Italian child who doesn't develop thick skin is the exception, not the rule.
Pretty soon all the bickering will be over. There won't be anything to bicker about other than who cut in front of me at the soup line...
