Does that meeting start time issue ever go away???? After being part of the long drawn out fight to get the meetings into a "citizen friendly" time frame, I say just let them have their way. I now believe the answer is the taping & timely airing of the meetings. They should turn the podium & have the citizens talk to the wall during citizen comments, as the end result will be the same.

What happens if the taping person can't make it? Is that the real goal here? Two trustees have difficulty making it to 5 PM Plan Commission meetings on time so why make it harder for the residents and few who actually show up for Board meetings? Wish they would explain their reasoning in the agenda item. It was pulled the last time Steinbrink tried to do this. Unfortunate they that say they welcome comments but this action makes that possibility for citizens harder.

And, if they want us to debate everything in Blogs and get all our news from their favorite paper, then so be it.

I don't see why ALL meetings aren't conducted at a uniform time. School commission, plan, board, whatever...start them all at 6pm (or whenever). This uniformity would make it easier for all residents to attend any/all meetings. "I have to go to [insert committee here] it starts at [insert time here]." Knowing all meetings have the same start time kills any scheduling confusion: "Is it plan or school that starts at 7:15? or is it 5:15? I can never remember."

It can't be that difficult.

The Board has held special meetings when agenda items were coming up that would take significant amount of time (Budget Saturday meetings, Carol, beach water problems, Prairie Ridge, 80th Street...etc.). Why not keep 6:30 time and hold special meetings if they know it will be a long session? I guess they don't even want the four or five residents that show up regularly to even attend anymore. What's the point of a public meeting if nobody can attend? Find a way to make meetings quicker if that's the supposed issue.

Mike,

I wasn't specifying a time (I am fine with 6:30pm being the uniform time as well). My point was for ALL meetings dealing with Village commissions to be held at that same time (whatever the time is. It isn't the case now, which seems silly. Why is plan at 5, school at 7, board at 6:30? Better yet, why can't they all be adjusted to the same time? Would seem to make the most sense. If there are overlapping meetings, then I could see an alternative...but that shouldn't be an issue.

One gold star for JR!

Standard, easy to remember times would be beneficial. Espeiclaly if they are at convienienet times.

As for what is a convienient time, Just ask any rec director what time they start the first adult softball game or basketball game. It's certainly not 5:00.

Gold star shmold star, I just want things to be done to help the Village. This uniform start time seems to be a no-brainer, finding that specific time may not be. LOL
