Recreation Commission

The Rec Comm tonight is considering gambling and alcohol at Prairie FAMILY Days. Need I say any more?

Yes, you should say more you idiot. They are considering a Casino Night during PFD with no real money -- a fundraiser for Theraputic Rec Program. And what's wrong with selling a few beers at PFD?

What do you have against raising money (with no real gambling) for disabled kids? You are disgusting. Ptui.

Actually, you are misinformed. They are being sent a recommendation to NOT have gambling and alcohol sales at Prairie Family Days. If you'd like a copy of the information, I'd be happy to email them to you.

Monica Yuhas proposed a resolution at the last Board meeting to prohibit these sales and gambling. Said resolution was brought before the Rec commission with the staff endorsing it's approval.

Apparently, the rec committee disagreed (3-2) with the resolution from Monica Yuhas to prohibit alcohol sales and gambling at the event. I am not positive who voted which way, nor which members did/didn't attend....merely the results. It is going back to the Board, for their final vote. I would assume it's going to pass there, in spite of the committee voting against it. I would have voted
in favor of Monica's resolution, but couldn't attend due to the Goodfellow's auction last night (a great event for local charities btw).

Apparently, it was a tense discussion. Everyone knows Family Days needs some changing, but there are obviously differing opinions as to HOW the Village should make changes.

Anyone thinking I'm using a beard is in need of some meds or getting a refund on their lobotomy (which obviously didn't take).

I don't get the beard thing. I was merely saying we could have a bearded lady at the PP carnival...

What's next, a Bearded lady stripper lap-dancer with bodaciuos TaTa's?? You guys are strange. Did anybody talk about alternates in case of weather issues? Use RecPlex if bad weather or does that complicate insurance issues? I would think not if talking alcohol sales but because different Enterprise system, maybe leagl differences. Maybe combine a trout pond like they have at indoor sporting events. Or use ice plex for something interesting like curling exhibitions. I'm not going to pretend to know what's best but was just wondering what other ideas have been thrown around?

The resolution was passed (prohibiting the gambling and alcohol sales) 4-1 with Clyde dissenting.
