For doing such a bang-up job with the KUSD finances, this board should offer their salaries back!
For any of them to fantasize about winning this lawsuit, or saying the CDO issue isn't important is beyond humorous. Have they come up with another solution to the OPEB liability yet? It's still hanging out there, and they simply compounded the problem by this fiscal snafu.

For our purposes, OPEB is the future benefit liabilities due to KUSD retirees. Here is the beginning of the CDO with that in mind:

The following is a nice intro to what OPEB is doing to local economies...it's similar to GM/Ford/Chrysler issues. It also discusses the amount in KUSD (which proves why a $37 million investment was a silly attempt). Toe in the water my eye....Hujik and Co. thought the CDO would be the OPEB cure all. Oops.

I know I won't make any friends but this line might have to be explored in the link John sent (Unlike pension benefits, which cannot be reduced, future health benefits can be altered.)
It's all about contracts. Is the KEA willing to sell out their brethren? NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
As stated by Eugene Schulz from Piper Jaffrey, the KUSD board should have been setting aside money from the general fund for the past several years to aid this issue...they haven't. Now they put us deeper in a hole.
For those who think the Village Board is tough, the KUSD school board is every bit as difficult. The KEA is the only true remaining electoral force in Kenosha, and they skew the board's make up. It needs more business professionals, as it is one of the largest employers (I think second) in the county. Egomaniacs like Olson and aren't the answer, nor are retired teachers (or teacher's spouses).

FYI: Pam Stevens, Eric Olson and Marc Hujik have all announced that they are running.
Hopefully, the KUSD people will be smart enough to replace them.
